V-CLAV LB

Amoxycillin is used always used in combination with clavulanic acid for the treatment of bacterial infections. The penicillin binding proteins present the bacteria is responsible for transpeptidase reactions which is further associated with crosslinking between D-alanine and D-aspartic acid and therefore enabling cell wall synthesis. Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid inhibits the protein binding proteins and leads to the destruction of cell wall of bacteria.

Amoxycillin
belongs to the class of antibiotics. It has long duration of action so therefore it can be used Bis a day.

Clavulanic acid is known as beta-lactamase inhibitors and. Clavulanic acid is an antibiotic but it is used in combination with penicillin derivatives so as to reduce the resistance of bacteria against antibiotics.

  • In uncomplicated malaria
  • Chloroquine resistant malaria

Mechanism of Action-

Amoxicillin inhibits the penicillin binding proteins and upregulation of the autolytic enzymes thus leads to the destruction of the cell wall of bacteria and after that death.
Clavulanic Acid stops the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the beta lactamases enzyme that is secreted in the bacteria because These enzymes develop resistance against penicillin antibiotics.
