VETORY-TH

This composition consists of etoricoxib and Thiocolchicoside which is used to treat muscular pain and relaxes the muscles. It works by blocking the release of certain messengers that prevents pain and inflammation. They act on the centers in the brain and spinal cord and relieves the stiffness and spasms and thus improves the movement of the body.

Etoricoxib is cox-2 inhibitor and it has capability to reduce the level of prostaglandins generated that are responsible for inflammation and pain.

Thiocolchicoside is derive from the colchicine. It is known as natural glycoside which is originated from the seeds of plant superba gloriosa. It has three main properties i.e. anti-inflammatory, analgesic and muscle relaxant.

Mechanism of action-

Etoricoxib prevents the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase.
Thiocolchicoside leads to the activation of the gamma amino butyric acid which is inhibitory neurotransmitter. Gamma amino butyric acid involve in the myorelaxation, anxiolytic, sedation.

It is metabolized in liver

Thiocolchicoside- It is absorbed orally
It is mainly bound to albumin
It undergoes demethylation
It is excreted via urine and feces
